The Central Missouri Mules rallied but fell short in a 72-71 loss at Northeastern State on Saturday in Tahlequah, Okla.
The Mules trailed by six in the final minute before Daylen Robinson hit a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to cut the lead to 71-68. Northeastern State hit a free throw and Robinson answered with another 3-pointer with 7.3 seconds left to bring the Mules within one and a turnover game UCM a chance to win but Charles Hammork’s jumper at the buzzer was no good.
Dillon Deck led the Mules with 22 points. Robinson added 13 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
In the womens game, Keuna Flax scored 22 points and the No. 8 Jennies beat Northeastern State 84-73.
UCM scored the final 11 points in the game to break what had been a 73-73 tie with 4:35 to play.
BreAnna Lewis scored 19 points. Quinnecia Twine added 13. Revonnia Howard grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds.
The Mules (10-2, 2-1 MIAA) and Jennies (9-1, 3-0 MIAA) will be back in action Jan. 4 hosting Nebraska-Kearney.
