The Pilot Grove girls basketball team beat Sweet Springs 60-57 at the New Franklin Tournament on Wednesday.
Pilot Grove led most of the way before Sweet Springs took the lead in the final minute but Pilot Grove then answered to pull out the win.
Kerigan Wessing scored 25 for Pilot Grove with Melissa Schlotzhauer adding 24.
Christina Higgins led Sweet Springs with 25 points. Nicole Bright added 14.
Also in the New Franklin Tournament on Wednesday, the Sweet Springs boys beat Westran 58-54. Sweet Springs led 28-26 at the half before pulling out to a 43-31 lead after three quarters. Westran outscored the Greyhounds 21-15 in the final quarter to close the gap.
Jacob Schowengerdt led Sweet Springs with 23 points. Jeffery Hall added 15.
The Pilot Grove boys fell to New Franklin 62-54.
New Franklin trailed 40-38 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Tigers 24-14 in the final eight minutes.
Colton Glenn and Mason Schlotzhauer each scored 14 for the Tigers.
In girls basketball at New Franklin, Sturgeon beat Westran 55-31.
In tournament play at Fayette on Wednesday, Tipton beat Fayette 64-54.
The Cardinals used a 17-7 first quarter run to take the early lead and led 42-25 at halftime.
Dylan Cooper led Tipton with 18 points.
Sturgeon beat Bunceton in boys basketball 89-17. Eli Pearcy led Bunceton with five points.
The Tipton girls beat Bunceton 51-47, taking a 39-31 lead into the final quarter and holding off a late Lady Dragon rally.
Paige Baker led Tipton with 14 points. Rachel Emde scored 26 for Bunceton.
Madi Lyons scored 15 points as No. 1 seed New Franklin beat Fayette 50-12.
