Dylan Mountain led Skyline with 13 points. Trey West added 10.
“I thought we just played really good defense,” said Sacred Heart coach Steve Goodwin. “We shot the ball particularly well. I thought we were really patient early but it it all boiled down to the way we played defense. I couldn’t have been happier with our effort.”
With the win, the Gremlins advance to the quarterfinal to face West Platte, the team that knocked them out in the 2013 quarterfinals. West Platte won its sectional on Wednesday, beating East Buchanan 64-48. The Gremlins and BlueJays meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Independence Events Center.
