The State Fair men’s basketball team fell in the second round of the NJCAA tournament to Chipola 91-83 on Wednesday in Hutchinson, Kan.

The No. 19 seed Roadrunners got 24 points from Kevin Punter. Joe Thomasson added 23 and Kedar Edwards scored 16.

No. 3 seeded Chipola jumped out to a 16-8 lead early in the first half but hot shooting brought the Roadrunners back, an Edwards 3-pointer tying the game 41-41 just before halftime. Chipola gradually pulled away in the second half. A run early in the half put the Indians ahead 54-48 before the Roadrunners rallied. Edwards cut the lead to 58-57 with a basket. But Chipola pulled away again and this time, the Roadrunners could not answer.

State Fair ends the season 26-7.
