Expected high temeratures which already altered the high school schedules for today’s week-one football games is now changing some things for Saturday.

The Smith-Cotton boys soccer tournament has moved several Saturday games up. The consolation game will begin at 8 a.m. at Susie Ditzfeld Field with the championship game at 10 a.m. at Susie Ditzfeld and the third-place game at 10 a.m. at Clover Dell.

Friday’s games remain as scheduled but there will be a built-in water break during each half. Smith-Cotton will open the tournament and the season at 4:30 p.m. against Marshall at Susie Ditzfeld. The Tigers will then face Carl Junction at 8:30 p.m.

In softball, Smith-Cotton and Pilot Grove are scheduled to play in the Boonville Tournament. All games in that tournament have been moved ahead by one hour. The S-C-Pilot Grove first round game will now begin at 9:30 a.m.

Several football games will have later starting times tonight. Smith-Cotton’s opener at Republic will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Other games will begin at 8 p.m. including Sweet Springs at Windsor, Lincoln at Rich Hill and Skyline at Cole Camp.
