The Smith-Cotton girls soccer team lost 2-1 to St. Pius X on Tuesday in a West Central Conference match in Kansas City.


Jill Vansell scored the lone Lady Tigers goal in the 47th minute to get Smith-Cotton on the scoreboard after St. Pius had jumped ahead 2-0.


Lydia Sharp made 10 saves in net for the Lady Tigers.


Smith-Cotton (1-1, 1-1 WCC) will play at Center on Thursday.


Smith-Cotton won the junior varsity game 2-0.


SOFTBALL


Santa Fe 5, Green Ridge 3


Green Ridge fell 5-3 at Santa Fe in a non-conference softball game on Tuesday.


The Lady Tigers jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the second inning but Santa Fe scored two in the fourth and added insurance runs in the fifth.


Evette Vincent went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Dallas Chewning was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Sam Unkel went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. She also pitched a complete game, striking out five and allowing six hits.


Green Ridge (2-1) opens Kaysinger Conference play at Cole Camp Thursday.


Northwest 10, Windsor 4


A seven-run third inning lifted Northwest to a 10-4 win over Windsor in a Kaysinger Conference softball game on Tuesday at Hughesville.


Kendall Walk went 3 for 4 at the plate for Northwest. Lakota Wiskur went 3 for 3 and drew a walk.


Haley Crouch went 2 for 4 for the Lady Greyhounds with a triple.


Kiera Yonce pitched a complete game for Northwest, striking out six.


Northwest (3-2, 1-0 Kaysinger) will visit La Monte on Friday.


Windsor (0-2, 0-1 Kaysinger) will host La Monte on Thursday.


BASEBALL


Pilot Grove 8, Green Ridge 2


Pilot Grove scored eight runs on six hits, helped by six Green Ridge errors in an 8-2 non-conference win over Green Ridge on Tuesday.


Alex Twenter got the win on the mound for Pilot Grove.


Justin McCarthy pitched three innings for Green Ridge and took the loss. He allowed six runs, or which five were unearned.


Pilot Grove scored five runs in the second inning to take control of the game.


Axton Harding went 1 for 3 at the plate for Green Ridge with a double and an RBI. Jacob White was 1 for 3. Taylor Hoos was 1 for 1.


Green Ridge (2-2) will open Kaysinger Conference play on Thursday at Cole Camp.


Smithton 12, Stover 5


A six-run fourth inning helped Smithton beat Stover 12-5 in a Kaysinger Conference baseball game Tuesday at Stover.


After Smithton scored a run in the top of the first, Stover came back with one in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Smithton answered with two in the third to tie the game and six in the fourth to take the lead for good.


Jeffery Bell, Nate Walsh and Damien Hendricks all hit home runs for the Tigers.


Hendricks also pitched for Smithton and earned the win.


Jordan French took the loss for the Bulldogs.


TENNIS


Knob Noster 9, Odessa 0


Knob Noster rolled past Odessa in a nonconference tennis match Tuesday at Knob Noster.


The Panthers got 8-0 wins from Cole Lankford at No. 2 singles, Jared Yates at No. 3 singles, Jacob Youngblood at No. 6 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Yates and John Abernathy.


At No. 1 singles, Kyle Zimmerschied beat Zachary Estes 8-1. Abernathy won his No. 4 singles match by the same score. Seth Templeton won the No. 5 singles match over Kane Wolkey 8-3.


At No. 1 doubles, Zimmerschied and Lankford won 8-1 while Templeton and Garnett Williams won the No. 3 doubles match 8-5.


Knob Noster’s junior varsity won 7-0.
