The Knob Noster boys tennis team beat Carrollton 9-0 in a Missouri River Valley Conference-East match on Friday in Carrollton.
The Panthers (9-1, 4-1 MRVC-East) got 8-0 wins from Cole Lankford at No. 2 singles Seth Templeton at No. 5 singles, Jacob Youngblood at No. 6 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Templeton and Garnett Williams.
At No. 1 singles, Kyle Zimmerschied beat Bryan Phillips 8-4. Jared Yates won the No. 3 singles match 8-3 over Jackson Berry.
At No. 4 singles, John Abernathy beat Glendon Jenkins 8-1.
Zimmerschied and Lankford won the No. 1 doubles match 8-2 over Phillips and Ethan Swyres. Zimmerschied and Lankford at 9-0 in doubles play on the year.
Abernathy and Yates won the No. 2 doubles match 8-3.
“Some of us played the best we’ve played all year, showing a lot of poise and ball control,” said Panthers coach Scott Maple. “Some of us struggled with our form and won ugly. Everyone did what they needed to do to pull out a win. At this point in the season, sometimes that’s what you have to do.”
Knob Noster won the junior varsity match 5-0.
Knob Noster will host Lexington on Monday.
