Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell won the featured event in the opening round of the ASCS Warrior Region Red, White and Blue Tour Thursday at Double X Speedway.
Cornell grabbed the lead on the sixth lap of the 30-lap featured event and held off challengers the rest of the way. In the heat race, Cornell took the lead at the white flag over Brandon Hanks, only make contact with Hanks on the final lap. Hanks won the heat, Cornell hanging on for second.
La Monte’s Matt Close took fourth in his heat and was 18th in the feature.
Will Register of Sedalia was 11th in the B feature.
Tipton’s Harlan Dowell was fifth in the street stocks race.
Register won the hobby stocks division with Sedalia’s Kevin Prall third, Windsor’s Chuck Coffey fourth, Windsor’s Rodger Deatherage ninth and Sedalia’s Mike Schrader 10th.
In the 600cc micro sprints, Dwayne Benson and Quinton Benson of Sweet Springs took second and third.
