Miss Rehearsal
Comments 0 | Recommend 0County queen contestants hope practice pays off
Flip flops were replaced with high heels Thursday as the six Miss Pettis County Queen Pageant contestants practiced for the upcoming competition at Smithton High School.
Lori Sartain and her sister, Deidre Esquivel, are directing the pageant.
“They are all really good,” Esquivel said.
All of the competitors have different talents including playing the piano, doing demonstrations and giving speeches.
“It’s a really more diverse group than we’ve had in the past,” Esquivel said.
Pageant contestants will be scored based on a personal interview, a talent or speech, evening wear and a question.
The winner will be responsible for representing Pettis County during the 2009 Missouri State Fair Queen Pageant in August and be available to return in 2010 to crown the next Pettis County Queen. The winner will also receive a $500 scholarship.
A queen will be crowned at 7 p.m. Thursday during the Smithton Town and Country Fair.
