Sedalia Democrat

A body recovered from the Missouri River in Saline County last weekend has been identified as a Liberty woman, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

On Saturday afternoon, deputies from the Saline County, Howard County and Chariton County sheriff’s departments recovered the body from the Missouri River near Glasgow.

The Saline County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the body as Lana C. Sandweiss, 56.

“It was a suicide,” said Saline County Coroner William Harlow. “She jumped off the Missouri River bridge near Lexington and died as a result.”

Sandweiss was missing since Nov. 26 after her car was found running on the Missouri River bridge on state Highway 13 in Ray County. The Missouri State Water Patrol searched the river but were unable to locate anyone.
