Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission to hold natural hazard mitigation meeting

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission is scheduled to hold an initial meeting for updating the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan created in 2004.

According to a news release from PTRPC, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 mandates that all hazard mitigation plans be updated every five years to measure progress on past mitigation goals as well as recognizing recent disasters and new potential hazards affecting the region.

This is an important document that is required for communities to receive federal assistance in the event of a disaster, the release states.

The meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 18 at First United Methodist Church, 1701 W. 32nd St., Sedalia. The meeting is open to the public.

For more information, contact Drew Weisberg, community development planner, at 463-7934 or e-mail drew@trailsrpc.org.
