The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for an alligator that was reported missing Thursday.

The alligator, which is between four and five feet long, was being kept as a pet by a rural Morgan County resident who lives on Anchorage Road, east of state Route TT and about two miles north of Gravois Mills.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the alligator was stolen from the residence, but the exact location of the alligator is unknown.

The gator is between four and five years old. It was raised in captivity for most of its life and was part of a traveling show for some time.

Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty urged people who see the alligator to stay away from it and call the sheriff’s office at 573-378-5481.
