The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an inmate who escaped from the Pettis County Jail shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday.
Jail staff discovered 29-year-old Brandon McGee missing from the jail around 10 p.m. According to Sheriff Kevin Bond, McGee escaped through an opening in the shower stall and is believed to have fled southbound on foot, wearing black gym shorts and a white T-shirt.
McGee is described as a slender white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown eyes, sandy brown hair, and a goatee.
While recent residences are in the Sedalia and Pettis County areas, he is known to frequent Morgan and Benton Counties to the south. McGee was being held on Pettis County charges of fraudulent use of credit devices. Authorities say they do not believe he is a danger to the public as he is awaiting trial on non-violent offenses, but he should not be approached.
Anyone seeing or who may have knowledge of the whereabouts of Brandon McGee are urged to call 911 or contact the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at 660-827-0052.
