Five injured in Saline County


Five people were injured in a collision at 2:32 p.m. Friday in Saline County.


Coralynn L. Vis, 76, of Le Grand, Iowa, was driving north on U.S. Highway 65 near I-70 when she crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Thomas U. Black, 50, of Nelson, causing both vehicles to spin out of control and slide into an embankment where Black’s vehicle overturned, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.


Vis was uninjured in the accident. Driver Thomas Black and Clinton U. Black, 78, of Marshall, were taken to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Phillip J. Black, 15, and Micaela R. Black, 13, both of Nelson, were taken to University Hospital with moderate injuries and Phillis J. Black, 78, of Marshall, was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital with moderate injuries.


Reports indicate all parties except Clinton Black were wearing seat belts.


Sedalia man injured in Benton County


A Sedalia man was injured in an accident at 2:55 p.m. Saturday in Benton County.


Tristan W. Sprinkle, 17, was driving south on state Route U near state Route JJ when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle he was driving to skid out of control, travel off the left side of the roadway, hit an embankment and overturn, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.


Sprinkle was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries.


Reports indicate he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.


Teenager injured jumping out of truck


A Sedalia teenager was injured in an accident at 8:33 p.m. Saturday on Prarie Road near Arnett Road in Pettis County.


Zachery S. Morrison, 15, was standing in the bed of a moving vehicle when he tried to jump onto the tailgate and fell onto the ground, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.


Morrison was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries.


Reports indicate he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.


Woman injured in Saline County


A woman was injured in an accident at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Saline County.


Sierra D. Worthey, 16, of Mexico, Mo., was driving on the Interstate 70 southbound off ramp to U.S. Highway 65 when she lost control, crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, began sliding and overturned, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.


Worthey was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital with serious injuries.


Reports indicate she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.


One injured in Pettis County


A Sedalia woman was injured in an accident at 12:10 p.m. Friday in Pettis County.


Katie M. Hensley, 31, was stopped on U.S. Highway 50 waiting to make a left turn onto state Route O when Sean K. Bowen, 17, of Otterville, failed to properly slow and struck Hensley’s vehicle.


Hensley was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.


Reports indicate she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
