Jamestown man killed in Moniteau County
A Jamestown man was killed in a collision at 8:32 a.m. Thursday in Moniteau County.
Raymond W. Varner, 72, was westbound on Business U.S. 50 in California, Mo. when he made a right turn onto Highway 87, and struck a vehicle driven by Amy L. Miller, 38, of Russellville, and was ejected from his vehicle, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
Varner was taken to the Moniteau County Coroner’s Office. Reports indicate he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Three seriously injured in collision
Three people were injured in a head-on collision at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in Moniteau County.
Tyler J. Akin, 27, of Camdenton, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 near Scott Branch Road when the vehicle she was driving crossed the centerline and struck head-on a vehicle driven by Wanda S. Hendricks, 53, of Jefferson City, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
Akin was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries. Wanda Hendricks and a passenger, William J. Hendricks Sr., 58, of Jefferson City, were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. Reports indicate all parties were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
