The City of Sedalia will host a proposed tax rate hearing today before the Sedalia City Council discusses two items during a work session.

Citizens are invited to attend the hearing to make comments on the proposed tax rate. The proposed tax levy is $1.8995.

Once the hearing is complete, the council will convene for a special council meeting to approve an ordinance levying and providing for the collection of taxes for 2014 in the city.

During its work session, the council will discuss possible fees for excessive debris for the pick-up on demand program. It will also have a discussion on the update of the Municipal Court fine and bond chart.

The tax rate hearing will begin at 6 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room at the Municipal Building, 200 S. Osage Ave., with the Sedalia City Council work session immediately following. For more information call 827-3000.
