Steve Pearson of Sweet Springs, fishes for hybrid bass using a spoon lure Thursday morning in the churning spillway waters below the Harry S. Truman Dam. The turbulent waters provide an oxygen and food-rich environment which attracts bass and other fish species, said Pearson, who had the day off from work.
