Pranksters hijacked the speaker at the Taco Bell drive-through Tuesday afternoon.

The suspects were able to find the same frequency used at the drive-through to broadcast as if they were Taco Bell employees, according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

“They were just saying vulgar things to (customers),” said Sgt. Matt Wirt, a detective.

The prank lasted a few minutes about 4:15 p.m. at the fast food establishment at 820 S. Limit Ave. The suspects “would have to be in relatively close proximity to” the business to interfere with the radio signal, Wirt said.

While it may have been a joke, the suspects could face charges if caught, Wirt said. Taco Bell employees have said they would press charges. A city ordinance prohibits creating interference with television, phone and radio receptions.
