Judge Robert L. Koffman heard these cases March 16, according to Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Mittelhauser:

•Amanda Martz, 25, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Sedalia Police Officers Josh Howell and David Smith arrested Martz on Sept. 5 and found methamphetamine in her possession. She was sentenced to serve three years in prison.

•John Mullis, 52, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to property damage in the second degree, admitting that on July 28 he damaged equipment, fixtures and printed materials owned by Midland Printing, his former employer. Execution of a 180-day jail sentence was suspended and Mullis was placed on probation for two years. Conditions of probation include 10 days of shock detention and community service work. Mullis paid restitution prior to entering the guilty plea.

•Roberta Peterman, 39, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to forgery, admitting she tried to pass a check forged on Emma Davis’ checking account Oct. 13. The state recommended a four-year sentence, Peterman requested probation and the court ordered a sentencing assessment report.

•Donald Ramirez, 25, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of a credit device. During an investigation conducted by Sedalia Police Det. Jill Green, Ramirez admitted he used a customer’s credit card on numerous occasions in July, August and September while he was employed at Casey’s General Store in Sedalia. After first paying full restitution, Ramirez was placed on probation for five years, with conditions that he serve 40 days in jail as shock detention and participate in Victim Offender Mediation.

•Lucy Reddick, 40, of Columbia, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, a felony offense due to her prior convictions for alcohol-related traffic offenses. She was arrested on U.S. Highway 65 north of Sedalia on Aug. 16 by Missouri State Highway Cpl. Eric Keim. Reddick was sentenced to serve 240 days in jail.

•Carrie L. Smith, 23, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to assault in the third degree, admitting she tried to injure Vanessa Azuara on Nov. 30. Execution of a 180-day jail sentence was suspended and Smith was placed on probation for two years with requirements that she serve 48 hours in jail as shock detention and have no contact with the victim. Smith paid restitution prior to entering her guilty plea.

•John Smith II, 17, of Green Ridge, pleaded guilty to delivery of less than 5 grams of marijuana. Smith admitted he sold marijuana Dec. 26 to an acquaintance. When a parent discovered the marijuana, she reported it to Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Coleman, who arrested and interviewed Smith. The court sentenced Smith to serve 270 days in jail.

•Jeremy Wendt, 28, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty to stealing in connection with a theft from O’Reilly Auto Parts. While employed at the business in December and January, Wendt stole money by making false returns totaling almost $600. He was placed on probation for five years with a requirement that he perform 120 hours of community service work. He paid restitution before pleading guilty.

•On March 17, Jonathan Cota, 20, of Sedalia, pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court of Cooper County before Judge Keith Bail to charges stemming from the execution of a search warrant in Sedalia last year. On May 6, Sedalia Police detectives Sean Hiatt and Cameron Egan and other members of the Sedalia Police Department served a search warrant at Cota’s home on East Fifth Street. Officers found crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia. Cota pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and was placed on probation for five years with a suspended 10-year sentence. He also pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to serve one year in jail on these charges.
