A Malta Bend teen was injured after he fell asleep at the wheel, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Ryan G. Armstrong, 17, was northbound on U.S. 65, about a half mile south of state Route N in Saline County, when he fell asleep, drove off the road and struck a ditch, troopers reported. The vehicle then rolled over and struck a utility pole, reports stated.

The accident happened at 6:48 p.m. Monday.

Armstrong was taken by ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Troopers issued Armstrong a summons on a charge of careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, according to reports.
