Weekend events raise money for Bruce reward funds
Two fundraisers featuring live bands, food and raffles took place this weekend to raise reward money for a missing Sedalia woman.
Dana Bruce, 23, went missing Oct. 5 and since then two reward funds have raised about $2,500 for information leading to her whereabouts.
The first fundraiser featured at a whole hog roast hosted by End Zone Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday.
Jackie Dawson, kitchen manager at End Zone Sports Bar and Grill, said about 100 people attended the fundraiser, and 80 people ate.
The meal included sides, dessert and tea for $5 per person.
The bar raised $457 for the reward fund.
On Sunday, five bands, including Sidewinder, Blackwater Band, Kickin’ Country, Final Cut, Johnny Ison and “Bubba” Green, took the stage at City Limits Lounge in the Ramada Inn.
Becky Cummings, of Sedalia, had a late lunch at City Limits Lounge and enjoyed the music.
“It’s awesome. I think this is a good way to benefit her,” Cummings said.
In the afternoon more than 50 people listened to music and could buy $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win gifts from Sedalia businesses.
Blackwater Band member, Tim Ross, helped organize the event.
“The idea is to raise as much money as we can for the Dana Bruce Fund,” Ross said.
Bands played throughout the evening and money raised at the event was given to the Dana Bruce Reward Fund at Excel Bank, 818 Thompson Blvd.
A lunch and auction organized by members of Bruce’s family is scheduled for Nov. 29 at Convention Hall in Liberty Park.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the auction will begin at 2 p.m.
Those who want to make a contribution can mail donations to the Dana Bruce Reward Fund at Union Savings Bank, 101 S. Ohio Ave., or Excel Bank, 818 Thompson Blvd.
Anyone with information about Bruce’s disappearance can contact the Sedalia Police Department at 826-8100.
