Roads closed for floods

Flood warning issued

Two roads in Johnson County were closed Tuesday, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation Web site.

A section of state Route 23 between Concordia and Knob Noster over the Blackwater River was closed due to flooding.

State Route E between state Route 13 and Missouri Route NN, south of Dunksburg, was also closed due to flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for parts of Pettis, Henry, and Johnson Counties.

The Blackwater River at Valley City, in Johnson County, and Big Creek at Blairstown in Henry County were included in the warning.

As of noon Tuesday, Blackwater River was at 17.2 feet. Flood stage is at 22 feet. The river is projected to peak at 25 feet early Wednesday and drop below flood stage by the afternoon, the warning states.
