Sacred Heart School to celebrate Catholic Schools Week beginning Sunday
The week of activities begins with the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship, which is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14, at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Sacred Heart School gymnasium. Winners progress through local, district and state competition. Participants, who do not have to be Sacred Heart students, are required to furnish proof of age and parental consent.
Monday will feature an all-school opening prayer service at 8:45 a.m., and Mayor Elaine Horn will sign a mayoral proclamation. Family and friends are invited to have a school lunch with their students in kindergarten through fifth grade on Tuesday, while the Active Parents Club will provide juice and donuts for all students beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday also will be Pajama Day for all students and staff, and there will be a Talent Showcase beginning at 12:15 p.m. in the new gym.
KSDL Radio will be at the school 10 a.m. to noon Thursday for its “Focus on Education,” and there will be a blood drive from 1 to 5 p.m. in the old gym.
Friday will feature an all-school Mass, awards for the teacher of the year and alumnus of year, as well as the “Blessing of the Throats” at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church.
