HIGH WATER CLOSES

PARTS OF TRUMAN

WARSAW — High water has forced officials to shut down part of Harry S. Truman State Park, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced Friday.

The flooding has forced the closure of the day-use and campground beaches, as well as the campground boat ramp. People may still launch boats at the marina.

The marina parking lot is expected to flood in the next week, as lake levels continue to rise. Marina services will remain open, and staff members will ferry customers across the parking lot to the marina. If that happens, the park will also have an emergency flood boat ramp available.

In the Thorny Ridge campground, two campsites were closed, and workers expected to have to close more sites.

Visitors were advised to watch for signs in the park indicating closed and hazardous areas.

The park’s other campgrounds remained open.

Up to date information is available by contacting DNR at (800) 334-6946 or on the Web site, www.mostateparks.com.

MODOT FINISHES

ROUTE 7 WORK

The Missouri Department of Transportation has finished improvements on Route 7 through Racket in Benton County.

Centerline rumble stripes were installed at the Red Bud and Teal Bend curves, and grooves were added to the pavement at the Red Bud curve to improve traction. The shoulders were also widened through the Red Bud curve, and new radar signs were installed. The signs display motorists’ speeds and inform them to slow down if driving too fast.
