Smith-Cotton band shines at contest
The Smith-Cotton High School Tiger Pride Marching Band competed at Carrollton Band Day Sept. 26. The band won four first-place trophies for parade, indoor drumline, field show and outstanding color guard.
The contest, hosted by Carrollton High School, featured events for field bands, parade bands, indoor auxiliaries and indoor drum line.
Band Director Jordan Summers said he and Assistant Band Director Brian Kloppenburg are proud of the group’s achievements.
“The students have had several obstacles to overcome this year with the late start to school and having freshmen at the Junior High building,” Summers said. “They have worked extremely hard, have met the challenges that arose due to the new school set-up and deserve the recognition they received at Carrollton.”
Summers said he is looking forward to accomplishing more as they progress through marching band season.
