Special election Tuesday for Henry County R-I School District
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A special election will take place Tuesday for voters in Henry, Benton, Pettis and Johnson counties.
On the ballot is Proposition 1, which concerns the Henry County R-I School District.
Voters will be asked to decide if the Henry County R-I School District Board of Education should borrow $2 million for the purpose of providing funds to complete renovation, remodeling and repair improvements to existing facilities within the district, according to a news release from the office of the Henry County clerk.
In addition, the district seeks to issue bonds, a portion of which may include qualified school construction bonds and qualified zone academy bonds in an amount not to exceed the allocation from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, for the payment thereof, the release said.
If the proposition is approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the district is estimated to remain unchanged at 50 cents per $100 of assessed valuation of real and personal property.
Voters will be asked to cast a yes or no vote.
A small amount of registered voters in Pettis, Benton and Johnson counties will be eligible to vote in the special election because they live in areas served by the district.
In Pettis County, registered voters in the Green Ridge and Washington precincts will cast votes at the Green Ridge Community Building, 144 N. Main. Voting will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., the release said.
