Five arrested in meth lab bust

Henry County sheriff’s deputies arrested five people on drug possession and manufacturing charges after a warrant service led authorities to a methamphetamine lab southeast of Clinton.

At about 4 p.m. Monday, deputies Eric Strouse and Kelvin Gaylord went to a home on the 200 block of SE 301 Road to arrest Danielle Pennington on a Benton County warrant for passing bad checks and a Cass County warrant for probation violation. They also arrested John W. Dickerson on a felony marijuana possession warrant out of Cass County.

While serving the warrants, deputies received consent and searched the home, where they discovered items used in the production of methamphetamine in the house and surrounding buildings.

Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom, Maj. Rob Hills and narcotics officers responded to the residence to assist with the clean up of the methamphetamine lab components, seizing tinctured iodine, acetone, starting fluid, anhydrous ammonia and ephedrine-based cold tablets.

Investigators also discovered a quantity of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine in the home.

Pennington, Dickerson, Gary Forbes, Robert Forbes and Thomas Dickerson were arrested on tentative charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance. According to Oberkrom, the ongoing investigation may result in additional arrests.
