A trooper and a Marshall woman suffered injuries in a three-vehicle crash this weekend in Saline County, the Highway Patrol reported.

Trooper Kyle W. Murphy, 24, of Marshall, was responding to an injury accident just before 3 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Highway 65 and College Street, when a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Marshall resident Christina F. Newsome failed to yield and struck the front end of his patrol car, according to Highway Patrol reports.

Murphy’s patrol car was pushed into the front end of a 1991 Buick driven by 57-year-old Mary Gilliam, of Marshall, troopers reported.

Murphy and Newsome each suffered minor injuries in the wreck, but both refused medical treatment.

The patrol car sustained an estimated $20,000 worth of damage.

A summons is pending in the ongoing investigation, troopers reported.
