Four killed in Saturday night crash east of Sedalia
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Four people were killed and four others were injured Saturday evening in a crash east of Sedalia.
The accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on westbound U.S. Highway 50 about a half mile east of state Route W.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2002 Ford ZX2 driven by Shenika Flemons, 32, of Kansas City, crossed the centerline, rotated counter-clockwise and struck the rear of a 1999 GMC Sierra driven by Charles Shapley, 24, of Sedalia.
After impact, the vehicle driven by Flemons skidded into the path of a 2009 Chevrolet driven by Daniel Hull, 31, of Eldon. Flemons’ vehicle then came to a rest facing westbound on the eastbound shoulder of Hwy. 50.
Those killed in the accident were all in Flemons’ vehicle. They are Flemons; Kawanna Jackson, 32, of Kansas City; Lakeidra Kemp, 32, of Columbia; and Kamyra Payne, age unknown, of Kansas City. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Pettis County Coroner Skip Smith, according to the highway patrol report.
Tyllyiss Jackson, age unknown, and Tonica Watts, 11, both of Kansas City, were occupants of Flemons’ vehicle and suffered serious injuries, according to the highway patrol report. Both were life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia.
Elliott Hull, 6, of Eldon, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. Jennifer Hull, 33, also of Eldon, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Bothwell, the highway patrol report states.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing.
