Police: House fire caused by juvenile playing with matches
A juvenile playing with matches caused a house fire Sunday afternoon.
The Sedalia Fire and Police departments responded to a house fire at 12:39 p.m. at 1400 E. 14th Street.
According to a police incident report, the fire started as a juvenile was playing with matches and one match went underneath a bed.
The house is a single-story rental unit and no one was injured during the fire, according to Sedalia Fire Department Battalion Chief Paul Withers.
Withers said there was damage to one room of the home and the front of the home.
The juvenile was referred to the fire department’s juvenile fire starters intervention program.
