Fair parade winners announced
The annual opening day parade along State Fair Boulevard on the Missouri State Fairgrounds took place Thursday and featured 80 entries.
First and second place winners were awarded in five categories.
Missouri Electric Cooperatives took first place for their 1938 Dodge Two Ton Line Truck and 1964 Dodge Truck in the antique and classic vehicle category.
Orville Welsh took second place with his 1950 Chevy pickup.
Nostalgia Vintage Apparel took first place for their “Apple Pie Through the Decades Float,” and the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri took second place for their “Memory Seeds” float in the float category.
The Sedalia Lions Club won first place for their 10-man bike in the theme category.
In the farm vehicle category, the Kansas City Two Cylinder Club took first for their two cylinder tractors and Gene Henson, of Climax Springs, won second place for his Farmall 400 antique tractor.
The Muddy Creek 4-H Saddle Club of Sedalia won first place in the horse category and the University of Central Missouri won second place with Mancow the Mule.
All first place winners received a blue ribbon and $100 in prize money. Second place winners received a red ribbon and $50.
In addition, the winners in the theme category and the Smith-Cotton Marching Band will receive plaques.
