The Sedalia Bombers opened the 2014 MINK League season with a 4-0 win at Chillicothe on Saturday.
The Bombers scored three runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth. Jordan Dey and Matt Jones each had two hits in the game. It was a Dey single which drove in Jones with the first run of the game. An Alex Bee single drove in Daniel Arthur and Dey scored when Aaron Meyer flew out to right.
A sacrifice fly from Jess Cartner scored Hunter Leeper in the fifth.
Sam Perez started for Sedalia and pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and one walk.
In the second game of the season on Sunday, the Bombers scored five in the first inning and beat Chillicothe 11-7.
After Jerrod Perry scored on a groundout, a Jones single drove in Trey Hair. Another run scored on a groundout and Kyle Reid singled to score Leeper. A Riley Brant single scored Dey to make it 5-0.
The Bombers added another in the second and after Chillicothe broke through with two runs in the fifth, Sedalia answered with a four-run sixth including a two-run homer by Jones.
Tyler Tuepker started and pitched five innings for the Bombers. He allowed two runs on three hits, walking three and striking out two. Dalton Christian came on in relief in the eighth inning and allowed four runs on two hits.
The Bombers open the home portion of the schedule at 7 p.m. tonight against Nevada.
