The Sedalia Rick Ball Ford Juniors American Legion baseball team split a wood-bat doubleheader in Chillicothe on Wednesday, dropping game one 3-1 before winning the night-cap 4-3 in nine innings.

Chase Plymell picked up the loss in the first game on the mound.

In the second game, Gavin Jones earned the win.

The Juniors host the Sedalia Wood Bat Tournament this weekend, opening play at 6 p.m. tonight at Dey Field, Liberty Park against Rock Bridge B.

The Travelers head into a Friday doubleheader at the Lee’s Summit Pirates following a 5-4 win over the A’s Tuesday.

Taylor Schubert struck out five in six innings of work for the Travelers who scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh to take a 5-3 lead and held off a late A’s rally.
