Sedalia man hurt in pickup-tanker accident
A Sedalia man was injured Wednesday when his pickup truck was wedged underneath a tanker truck in an accident on U.S. 50 in Johnson County.
Robert W. Schlender, 49, was taken by helicopter to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence. No information about his condition was available Wednesday night, a spokeswoman said.
The accident happened about 6:10 a.m. on U.S. 50 at Missouri Route 131, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. The northbound 18-wheeler driven by Mitchell E. Holder pulled into the path of the westbound pickup, the patrol reported. Schlender’s truck struck the tanker.
Holder, 44, of Odessa, was issued a summons charging him with failure to yield.
