Sedalia man dies in 2-vehicle collision

A Sedalia man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 12:28 p.m. Monday in Pettis County.

Ulysses G. Washington, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Pettis County coroner after being partially thrown from the vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Reports indicate Teresa A. Gilmore, 53, of Sedalia, was stopped at a stop sign at U.S. 65 Highway and North Grand Avenue when her vehicle was hit in the driver’s side by Patrick W. Lynch, 64, of Sedalia, who was driving south on U.S. 65, causing both vehicles to drive off the right side of the road.

Neither Gilmore, or occupants in her vehicle, Washington or Angela J. McCartney, 49, of Sedalia, were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Gilmore was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries while McCartney was taken by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Lynch, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
