Warsaw plans holiday events this weekend
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Pictures with Santa Claus, wagon rides and a movie are a few of the events taking place for the whole family to enjoy this weekend in Warsaw.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church will be hosting a cookie walk fundraiser for Awanda Pilcher. Pilcher is battling Lou Gehrig’s disease.
People may purchase a variety of cookies for $5 per pound and funds will be matched up to $1,000 by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
The sale ends at 2 p.m.
The Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce has invited Santa Claus to the Community Building from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The Santa Day features singing, hot cocoa, juice, donuts and face painting. Children also can have their picture taken with Santa for $4.
Sandi Schmitt, executive vice president of the chamber, said children also can make crafts during the event, which is free to attend.
“Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” will be playing at the Roxy at noon, and 2 and 4 p.m.
A non-perishable food item donation is required to attend the movie. The food will help support the Benton County Food Pantry.
Saturday and Sunday, the Kaysinger Christmas will be held at the Harry S. Truman Dam Visitors Center.
“We’ve had a lot of calls about this,” Schmitt said.
This is the second year for the event that features hay wagon rides, carol singing, food and a Christmas store.
“It’s just a family friendly time that they can have a lot of fun and not spend a lot of money,” Schmitt said.
Schmitt encourages visitors to drive through Drake Harbor to see the holiday lights that are open nightly for free.
