Water board to discuss sick, vacation time policies
The Water Department wants to adopt sick leave and vacation policies similar to those of other city departments.
The Public Works Board is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Kehde's Barbecue. The meeting it open to the public.
Water Department workers accumulate the same number of sick days as other city workers, with the exception the days have no monetary value. Workers in other city departments are paid, using a formula, for their unused sick time when they leave.
Water Department employees reach their maximum vacation time of three weeks after 15 years of employment. City workers max out at five weeks in 25 years.
Manager Charles Brosch said he expects the board to discuss changing the policies to make them more similar to those used citywide.
