Two people from Mississippi were killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Johnson County, according to Missouri Highway Patrol reports.

Steven W. Scott, 59, and Mary E. Williams, 65, both of Tupelo, Miss., died after the crash at 5 p.m. on U.S. 50 and Missouri 131, at Pittsville.

Rebecca A. Morales, 53, of Bates City, was injured and taken by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, troopers reported. A hospital spokesman said he didn’t have any information about Morales.

The accident happened when Williams failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Paul Morales, 52, of Bates City. Steven Scott was a passenger in Williams’ vehicle and Rebecca Morales was a passenger in Paul Morales’ vehicle.

Williams’ vehicle was struck by Morales’ vehicle in the passenger side, according to trooper reports. Scott died at the wreck site and Williams died at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
