Public Works to hear final water meter proposals
The Sedalia Public Works Board will meet Wednesday with representatives from the two companies up for consideration to replace the majority of the city’s water meters.
In recent months, the board has been examining options for replacing all meters older than five years old and retrofitting about 4,000 of the city’s newest residential meters. The plan also would include the installation of an automated meter reading system that sends usage information over radio frequencies.
Board members last month narrowed consideration for the project to two companies, Siemens Building Technologies, of Kansas, and McKinstry, a company based in Washington state. The board will meet with both companies Wednesday to hear final proposals.
Water Department Manager Charles Brosch said the board will meet with representatives from McKinstry at 10:30 a.m. and Siemens at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the mayor’s conference room at City Hall.
