Mildred Louise Hargrave, 84, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, in Sedalia.
She was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Longwood, a daughter of Jesse Samuel and Queen Victoria Lawson Pettis. On Dec. 24, 1954, in Kansas City, Kan., she was married to Raymon R. Hargrave Jr., who survives of the home.
She grew up in the Longwood and Sedalia area. She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God in Sedalia. She spent her free time worrying about her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a strong love for God and Jesus. She was known for being generous.
Also surviving are six sons, Richard D. Hargrave, and his wife, Janice Kay, Samuel Hargrave, and his wife, Robin Renee, all of Sedalia, Raymon B. Hargrave, and his wife, Kelly Jo, of Smithton, Lee Meyer, of Kansas, Larry Meyer, and his wife, Norma, of Stover, and Gary Townsend, of Blue Springs; a daughter, Carolyn Thomas, and her husband, Jerry, of Grain Valley; three sisters, Jessie Savage, Margaret Derkum and Elizabeth North, all of Sedalia; a brother, George Thomas Pettis, of Sedalia; 27 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Charles Lewis Meyer; four sisters, Artie Blakley, Georgia McLaughlin, Geneva Dunn and Shirley Jo Pettis; and three brothers, Eddie Pettis, Phillip Pettis and Donald Pettis.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with Pastor Clint Leiter and Richard Hargrave officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Hargrave, James Hargrave, Philip Hargrave, Nathan Hargrave, Joseph Hargrave, Thomas Hargrave, Samuel Hargrave, Chris Hargrave, Matt Hargrave, Daniel Hargrave, John Hargrave and Luke Hargrave. Honorary pallbearers will be Jennifer Hargrave, Rachel Walter, Marie Hargrave, Abby Hargrave and Amy Hargrave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
