In reference to Doug Kneibert’s letter (“Dems Now the Party of the Rich,” Monday), I agree that Democrats have a number of wealthy contributors as do the Republicans, such as the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, many large corporations and Wall Street. One might guess these might have more assets than labor unions. I also agree that blue states (Democratic) have median household incomes greater than red states. However, the largest median household income I could find was in Maryland with approximately $70,000.
Other comparisons show red states have more teen pregnancies, abortions, poverty and less access to health care. The 10 states with the most educated populace voted for President Barack Obama. Of the 10 states with the lowest educated populace, nine voted for Mitt Romney. Blue states on average spend $900 to $2,000 more per student each year.
