Letter: Nothing wrong with ‘Bless God America’

Posted: Tuesday, October 23, 2012 10:01 pm | Updated: 1:11 pm, Mon Oct 29, 2012.

Recently, one of the Sedline comments was critical of the “Bless God America” rally, and that is hard for me to imagine if you love this country. One of the comments was political in nature, and politics had no bearing on the object of the evening whatsoever.

Three of our representatives did speak, but their politics were not an issue. Praise the Lord, they all have a foundation and love of God and country, and that was their point in speaking. Another comment was about separation of church and state. There is nothing in our Constitution suggesting such a thing, and the words came from a letter written by a Baptist church concerned with having to live under a one-church system, and Thomas Jefferson said there would never be such a thing, and they would always be free from state interference and could worship as they pleased. We have freedom for religion, not freedom from our faith. Bibles were actually used as the school books.
