The level of hate is unbelievable. When Truman, JFK and others were elected, the “world is coming to an end” segment of society tried to intimidate. Now compromise has become a dirty word and people label those who need public assistance as worthless bloodsuckers. There are many issues that need to be dealt with and reform is important.

We must encourage our representatives to work together. Our priorities must put the truth first. The truth is we have to pay for two wars, we have to balance a budget, we have to care for those who need a hand up, and we need to stop with the lies about birth certificates and religion.

Many of us Barack Obama supporters acknowledge there are things we, too, didn’t agree with that the president has done. And while in large measure I disagreed with Mitt Romney, it would be a lie to say I didn’t agree with anything he’s said. But overall, we have lost our humanity.

When Romney lost the election, the Republican implosion was remarkable. I neither want Democrats nor Republicans to feel that the status quo is acceptable. Both sides need to realize that the obstructionism and the whining must be put aside for the greater good.

We are all different and this democracy is set up to challenge our leaders to work together for the best of the people. If you think hate, bigotry, racism, sexism or even a clash of the classes doesn’t exist, then you’re in denial. On some level, it exists everywhere.

For those who have contacted our members of Congress or the president over the years, do not stop. Continue to exercise your right to voice your situation, to request help if it is needed or to praise when praise is due. Basically, pull for our country, not just our candidates.
