Our View: Polls out of schools: Sad, necessary move

Among many Baby Boomers’ memories is going to the polls at a local school on Election Day with their parents, standing in the booth with the curtain drawn as Mom or Dad pulled levers to make their selections for local, state and national offices.

Much of that has changed. Electronic card readers and touch screens have replaced manual voting machines, and at least locally, the days of contested races for key seats are few and far between. This week, the days of going to a public school to cast your ballot also became history.
