By now we all know that when President Barack Obama said he sought to “fundamentally” change America, he meant it.

But by big majorities, Americans oppose Obama’s progressive agenda. Socialized health care, massive spending, a crushing national debt, high taxes and a rapidly expanding federal government — all with no discernible benefit to our economy — have put voters in a sour mood, and they are eager to enforce their own version of “change” in Washington.

While Obama is safe for two more years, his compliant Congress is not. By defeating as many of his party as possible on Election Day, switching control of the House and perhaps even the Senate, voters can ensure that the Obama express grinds to a halt. Things at least won’t get any worse for the next two years.

Here in the Fourth Congressional District, that includes retiring Rep. Ike Skelton. Not only are 34 years in Congress enough, Skelton has voted the Pelosi line nearly 95 percent of the time. When our “representative” ceases to represent us, no further reason is needed to make a change. Vicky Hartzler is that change.

Let’s do our part — and I am speaking to independents and conservative Democrats as well — to begin taking back our country on Nov. 2.
