Drug sweep sends message

Posted: Saturday, December 5, 2009 12:00 am | Updated: 9:28 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

The wake-up call came a little early for some Sedalia residents on Thursday, as the Sedalia Police Department and Missouri Highway Patrol started serving arrest warrants at about 7 a.m.

By noon, almost 25 people had been brought in on drug-related charges, many for selling near schools. As reported by The Democrat’s Sarah Nail, the sweep was the result of a months-long operation in which “Erin,” an undercover officer, purchased drugs at least three times each from most of the suspects. The list of narcotics that the officer was able to buy ranges from the typical — marijuana, crack, cocaine, methamphetamine — to more hardcore and out-of-the-ordinary substances, such as morphine and hash oil cake.
