McMullen: Texting work keeps students plugged in

The cellphone is an important tool.

There are some people, especially those in my very own generation, who are inseparable from their devices. Sometimes they’re sending text messages, and sometimes they’re checking Facebook every few minutes. They take pictures of things that nobody will ever care about. It used to be that the cellphone would live in the pocket most of the day, but at every opportunity it now lives on the table, for fear that its owner would be needed at a moment’s notice.
