In response to an earlier letter written by Larry Stevenson, another Vietnam veteran, as well as all the articles both pro and con on gun control:
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is clear. Civilians, the general public (people like you and me) have the legal right to bear arms. I agree that right has responsibilities attached. What these responsibilities are will be determined by Congress and the court system over many years
It is my desire, like Stevensonís, that we do not see our elected public officials destroy the intent of the Second Amendment. I, too, fought in Vietnam but carried a M-14 carbine as a member of combat engineer tactical unit with the desire to see the Vietnamese people free from government oppression.
