Sedline for Sept. 5

“Help my (grandma) pay for college now that the state of Missouri won’t let her dance
anymore.”

“President Obama has made such a mess out of this country. Someone hand him a mop.”

“I agree that Republicans try to have strict control on spending — as long as the decreased spending is on the middle and lower class, as well as the decreases on Medicare and Medicaid. The Republicans don’t want strict spending control, though, on Wall Street fat cats, oil companies or starting overseas wars. There is always plenty of money for that.”

“Missouri received $81 million in job stimulus money. All 50 states are receiving money to produce jobs and more jobs. Don’t blame Obama and the Democrats when states like Missouri spend this money on high-speed Internet to rural areas. Our president is trying to get us jobs; our state politicians need to do their share.”

“There are a lot of child molesters out here. ... I think that they should make them put signs out on every corner in their yard so people know they are child molesters.”

“C’mon people, get your animals spayed and neutered. There is a veterinarian on Main Street in Sedalia who does it so cheap. There is no excuse for not getting these animals taken care of. There are too many unwanted puppies and kittens.”

“I just heard a man and woman in Aldi’s parking lot discussing that she was leaving the car (running) with the air conditioning on for the dogs. He said because it was only in the 80s, they would be OK without the air conditioner. That’s when I want to walk up to him and say, ‘You know, why don’t we just leave the air conditioner off and you sit out there with the dogs and see how you like it when it gets to be 110 degrees on a cloudy day?’ It’s a good thing those dogs had a smart woman for an owner.”

“Someone needs to tell (Sedalia Public Works Director Bill) Beck the mosquito spray is a waste of money. It isn’t working. Take the money and patch some potholes, please.”

“These people figure out how to get into these other countries, let ’em figure out how to get home. We shouldn’t have to pay to send ex-presidents ... to go get these fools.”

“I was just wondering if there are any other Smithton parents out there who are not happy how the walkers and the car riders are being treated after school.”

“It’s nice that the city of Sedalia has a limb and branch dropoff out on South New York (Avenue), but it would be really nice if the fine people of Sedalia who string their brush along the road all the way out to New York would stop to pick it up, because the people who live out here don’t want to have to stop and pick it up on the way home.”

“Smith-Cotton High School has a head football coach, a wide receivers coach, a defensive coordinator and an offensive line coach. That’s just football. No wonder District 200 has money problems.”

“In Sedline (Aug. 29), someone complained about all the highway patrolmen who were here (during the Missouri State Fair). Well they draw the same salary here as they would if they were on the job elsewhere. Also, I’d like to say thanks to whoever put up the tents for (the Missouri Highway Patrol) to stand under out of the sun. That was a great deal for them.”

“I have a suggestion for Salvation Army: Please put up surveillance cameras so you can catch the perpetrators.”

“We are not a Christian nation but a nation of man-made laws, customs and traditions, not obeying the Ten Commandments. America is nothing but a land of paganism, hedonism and vices.”

“I want you to know how much I enjoy Rhonda Chalfant’s column every Wednesday ... about the history of Sedalia. It’s like reading a short novel every week. When she continues it, I sometimes can’t wait for the story to continue.”

“With two more months of these negative Carnahan and Blunt ads, my mute button is getting a real workout.”
