“The editorial in this morning’s paper (April 13-14, “Play outrage missses CASA’s vital mission”) about “The Vagina Monologues” was excellent. Whether we like it or not, we have to admit the sexual abuse of women and children is real and we have to address it. The word ‘vagina’ is upsetting to us but it does get our attention and I think that was its intention.”

“Last week I read in Sedline about the pink caboose. There’s two of them out at the fairgrounds, and I hear the Trail’s End Committee wants to put a third one out there. That’s a bad deal.”

“I love to read Rose Nolen’s column every Friday. I can tell her why the teachers have the inability to maintain order in the classroom. She herself answered with the sentence, ‘School is just a game to be played’ by her son. ... Students are running the schools, and most teachers and principals are scared for their jobs.”

As a young man growing up in the adjoining county to Pettis it was common knowlege to know what kind of activity was taking place in downtown Sedalia. It was politely referred to as the oldest profession in the world. If vulgar language and obscene language is enlightnement, please leave me out. This next play defies common deceny and morals. Is this what Sedalia is to be known fo?. Pastors, please speak up.

“I don’t think there’s a street named after Bothwell, and I don’t think there’s street named after someone who has been downtown since I was a kid, and that’s Cecil. Seems like there ought to be a Cecil Street and Bothwell Street in this town.”

“Why can’t Sedalia’s two radio stations play the songs that are always played on the Internet and in offices? For example, I was on hold and heard this beautiful song, part of the words were, ‘Who’s to blame, do you know what I’m saying?’ ”

“These people who want term limits don’t realize we already have them. If you had a robber come to the door and ask to come in to rob you, you would complain about it to high heaven. But if he came back a second time, you probably would take a vote to let him in.”

“Stephanie Lefevers writes the most thought-provoking, common-sense (commentaries).”

“That was a nice separate ad in the newspaper showing the new logo for Fischer’s large gravel company. That way, it won’t get mixed up with the other outfit that is spelled without the ‘C.’ ”

“This is for the guy that lives in 1600 block of West Broadway that piled his tree debris so close to the road that when I drove by, it scratched the side of my car, I’ll be stopping by to get your homeowner’s insurance so we can get my car fixed.”

“I was surprised to see a new sign at Liberty Park that says the park is closed at midnight. I was wondering what the curfew is for juveniles in Sedalia?”

“I don’t understand the Crown Hill Cemetery. Why do I pay taxes and upkeep for all of the cemetery? Does that mean I get a special discount to be buried there or when I buy a plot? Why does the city own that and what are the benefits?”

“The Real Estate Transactions were definitely permanent ones.”

“I disagree with the lady who commented on Larry Stevenson’s facial looks about Vietnam. I personally think that he can look anyway he wants to look because of the thngs he has done in his career as an Army veteran. If anyone could see what he does out at the VFW, they wouldn’t even think like that. I’m grateful he was elected to the City Council.”

“Why do people park their vehicles in of their homes in the grass and on the lawn? They have plenty of room in their driveways or have plenty of room in the street. This downgrades the neighborhood.”

“I thought it was against the law to operate a lawnmower without a deflector shield. This can be very dangerous.”

“I tried to be nice to these people out her. Now they’re saying that I don’t have the right to plant peas. My wife is renting the house and she can plant peas but I can’t.”

“I hope the idiots that stole my birdbath on April 13 have fun with it because it cost me quite a bit of money.”
